A horse with a blanket, a blanket thermometer, and the question: Which blanket should I use today?
Blanket Season Bundle

Which blanket today?

Barely above freezing at night, 15 degrees and sunny during the day. And one blanket is supposed to cover both.

If you choose the thin blanket, it might be too cold at night. If you choose the thicker one, your horse will sweat during the day. So you decide based on a gut feeling, and usually go with the warmer one.

This means you no longer have to guess.

  • Blanket thermometershows you how warm it really is under the blanket.
  • Blanket Guide tells you which blanket suits the weather and your horse.
  • Immune Active for nutritional support of the body's natural defenses, from within.

Everything together in the blanket season bundle. Thermometer and guide included for free.

The blanket paradox: Most horses don't freeze too often, they sweat too often

Why is measuring so much more reliable than guesswork? Because in temperatures between 5 and 15 °C, like now in autumn, we tend to blanket our horses based on how cold we feel. But your horse experiences cold very differently than you do.

You at12 °C

Put on a jacket, maybe a scarf too.

Your horse at12 °C

Relaxed in its comfort zone.

Depending on the source, a horse's comfort zone is roughly between 0 or 5 and 25 °C (including D. Marlin).

That is why focusing on the exact number of grams often leads you in the wrong direction.
Instead of: "Which blanket keeps my horse warm enough?"
Ask yourself: "Is my horse too warm or too cold under its blanket?"

What happens if the blanket doesn't fit

Dressed too warmly in a blanket

  1. The horse sweats under its blanket, especially when the sun comes out at midday
  2. The coat and skin get dampanything under the blanket barely dries at all
  3. The blanket comes off, or it getschilly in the evening—cold air meets wet fur
  4. The horse easily catches a chill moisture robs the body of warmth, and a wet coat provides almost no insulation

Not blanketed enough

  1. Especially clipped and older horses get coldthey lack their natural coat protection or energy reserves
  2. The body mustgenerate heat on its ownand needs additional energy to do so
  3. Cold, wet days are especially demanding.Wind and moisture quickly drain the body's warmth.
In both cases, the body has to work extra hard, and this during a phase when shedding and constant temperature changes are already demanding a lot from it. That's why the right blanket from the outside and care from the inside go hand in hand.

Three components, one bundle

Measure, decide, care: This turns guesswork into a clear decision, ensuring your horse is well cared for from the inside out.

Frequently Asked Questions

My horse has a winter coat. Does it even need a blanket?

Not necessarily. Many unshorn horses with thick winter coats do well without one. It is a different story for clipped or older horses. Our guide and thermometer help you decide what is right for your horse rather than just relying on a general rule of thumb.

I can't make it to the stable every day. Will this still help me?

Yes. With the measured value and the rug guide, you have a clear basis instead of relying on guesswork or tips from the stable.

Isn't it enough to feel with your hand?

Using your hand is a good first check. However, it only shows you a single moment, and your hand feels things differently than your horse does. A thermometer gives you an exact measurement.

What if my horse doesn't eat it?
