Ingredients

Biotin

Biotin plays a vital role in the normal metabolism of skin, coat, and hooves. It is involved in forming keratin, a natural structural protein found in skin, hair, and hooves. A balanced intake of biotin can contribute to a shiny coat and strong hoof quality.

Selenium

Selenium is an essential trace element and plays a role in numerous physiological processes in the body. It is involved in cellular metabolism and is associated with the function of tissues with a high cell turnover rate, such as those found in the hoof horn.
As part of a balanced diet, selenium can contribute to the nutritional support of normal structural formation processes that are important for the stability and resilience of the hooves—especially in horses subjected to increased physical stress.

Zinc

Zinc is an important trace element that plays a role in normal cell metabolism. It supports the natural function of skin, coat, and horn, contributing to a healthy overall appearance.

Folic Acid

Folic acid (Vitamin B9) is an essential B vitamin that horses cannot produce on their own and must therefore get through their diet. It is involved in various physiological processes, including cell metabolism and the normal function of skin, coat, and long hair.

MSM

MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane) is a natural source of sulfur found in pasture grass, young green fodder, and certain vegetables. Sulfur is a vital building block for the body's structures, including skin, connective tissue, hair, and hooves. Providing enough MSM can nutritionally support these structures and, particularly during times of higher demand, support maintain a healthy coat and skin.

Diatomaceous Earth

Diatomaceous earth is a natural source of silicon—a trace element that plays a role throughout the body as a component of connective tissue. Silicon is found in the skin, hair, hooves, cartilage, and ligaments, among other places. It is involved in structural processes and contributes to maintaining the normal condition of hooves and skin. A silicon supply tailored to the horse’s needs can be nutritionally beneficial, particularly for horses during the coat change or those with heavily stressed hooves.

DL-Methionine

DL-Methionine is an essential amino acid involved in the formation of keratin, a structural protein found naturally in skin, hair, and hooves. A balanced supply of methionine can nutritionally support the quality of the coat and horn, especially during shedding, growth, or periods of high demand.

Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 (Cobalamin) is an essential B vitamin found primarily in animal feed, including fermented products and brewer's yeast. It supports normal energy metabolism and can nutritionally aid the physiological processes involved in blood formation, cell function, and nerve metabolism. An adequate supply also contributes to the normal health of skin, coat, and hooves, especially during periods of high stress or in older horses.

Vitamin B2

Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin) is a water-soluble B vitamin found naturally in herbs, grains, and yeast. It supports normal cell metabolism and plays a role in the physiological processes of skin and hoof health. Ensuring an adequate supply can help maintain healthy skin and hoof structures.

Niacinamide

Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) is an essential B vitamin found naturally in plant-based feed, yeast, and grains. It participates in many enzymatic processes and supports normal energy metabolism. Providing enough Niacinamide can nutritionally assist the physiological processes in the skin, coat, and hooves, and support the normal function of muscles, digestion, and the nervous system.

Vitamin B6

Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine) is a water-soluble B vitamin found naturally in yeast, grains, and plant-based feed. It is involved in normal amino acid and fatty acid metabolism and contributes to the healthy function of the skin and liver.

Copper

Copper is an essential trace element involved in various physiological processes in the body—including those in connective tissue, the nervous system, and blood formation. It supports normal oxygen transport in the body and can protect cells from oxidative stress. Ensuring an adequate supply of copper can be particularly beneficial during periods of increased physical exertion.

Product Questions

How many days does a bottle of Hoof Strength last?

For large horses (standard daily dose of 30 ml), one bottle of Hoof Strength will last about 1 month. For small horses or ponies (standard daily dose of 20 ml), one bottle will even last about 1.5 months.

Is Hoof Strength suitable as a hoof support course or for long-term feeding?

The duration of feeding should be determined on a case-by-case basis. Since hoof growth is a very slow process, it is recommended to feed Hoof Strength for at least 3 to 6 months. For horses that require ongoing support for hoof quality, Hoof Strength can also be fed continuously.

Can I prepare the daily ration of this hoof supplement in advance?

Yes, all of our products are suitable for preparing in advance. You can prepare Hoof Strength up to 24 hours in advance.

Why does Hoof Strength contain MSM and diatomaceous earth?

We rely on a comprehensive formula: While biotin and zinc have proven to be classic ingredients for hoof growth, diatomaceous earth provides valuable silicon for connective tissue. MSM (organic sulfur) is a key component of the keratin protein and ensures flexibility and resilience.

What ingredients does Hoof Strength contain?

Hoof Strength contains proven ingredients for healthy hooves: a high-potency blend of biotin, zinc, diatomaceous earth, and MSM.

Can I combine Hoof Strength with other products?

This is very easy to do. If you’re already feeding a high-dose mineral supplement that also contains zinc, you can adjust the dosage of Hoof Strength to maintain an ideal nutritional balance. If you need help with this, feel free to contact our customer service team for feeding advice.

Please also note that not all products should be combined without caution.
If you’d like to combine Hoof Strength with other products, please feel free to contact us—we’d be happy to advise you personally.

When can changes in the hoof be expected to become visible?

The first visible changes can usually be observed at the coronet band after around 6 to 8 weeks, as new hoof horn grows down. Since our hoof supplement provides important micronutrients such as biotin and zinc, the entire organism may often benefit much sooner.

What should I do if my horse shows signs of hoof problems?

In cases of acute problems, a hoof care professional (farrier or hoof trimmer) and, where appropriate, a veterinarian should always be consulted. As a complementary measure, our hoof supplement provides nutritional support for the body's natural keratin production, which forms the basis of healthy hoof horn.

Can I feed Hoof Strength to horses with brittle or dry hooves, or a hoof crack?

Brittle or dry hooves often result from an insufficient nutrient supply to the hoof horn. The combination of diatomaceous earth and MSM in Hoof Power supports connective tissue structures. Hoof Strength can be fed alongside other measures to provide nutritional support for the horse’s hooves and hoof horn.

Can I feed Hoof Strength to a horse with laminitis?

Horses with laminitis require a particularly precise nutrient intake without putting a strain on their metabolism. The feeding regimen for horses with laminitis should always be discussed individually with a veterinarian. Hoof Strength is formulated to be low in sugar and starch and provides essential building blocks for hoof growth in horses.

Can I feed Hoof Strength to support hoof care in cases of thrush?

Effective frog care involves both internal and external measures. While external hygiene is important, Hoof Strength provides essential nutrients for the frog, like zinc and MSM.

Picky Horse: What if Hoof Strength isn't eaten?

Hoof Strength is liquid and is well accepted by most horses. However, if your horse refuses the product, our 30-day Taste Guarantee applies. You can also easily mix Hoof Strength into mash or moistened feed.

Is Hoof Strength permitted in competitive sports (doping)?

Yes, our product is Show safe. It does not contain any substances that are prohibited in competitive sports under current anti-doping guidelines.

Please always follow the current anti-doping guidelines (ADMR) of the FN and the FEI.

Can Hoof Strength be fed to pregnant mares?

Feeding this product to pregnant mares should always be discussed with a veterinarian beforehand. The product contains ingredients that are generally suitable for pregnant mares.
